Preparing for School ‘Step Into Prep ‘
Step Into Prep Program is back again for next year’s 2024 Foundation students!
Foundation (Preps)
Foundation students get a great start in their first year at Donvale Primary School. Our extensive Transition Program which supports students understanding of school procedures and expectations, greatly assists the newest members to our school community in achieving this great start. Our transition program commences in Term 4 of the year prior to commencing at school. New Foundation students attend four classroom sessions to gain familiarity with the school and classroom environment. A highlight of the transition program is meeting their Year Six buddy.
At Donvale Primary School we recognise that the transition from pre-school to school is a big step for young children. We believe that it is important that children feel confident in a school setting to support a positive start to their formal education.
There will be two ‘Step Into Prep’ sessions during term 2. This program will allow your child to familiarise themselves with school life, teachers and their peers and support parents in their decision making when choosing the right school for their child.
Please note: Your child does not have to be enrolled at Donvale Primary in 2022 to attend the ‘Step into Prep’ program. There is no cost for the program and it is open to all 4 year old kindergarten children in the area.

1. Wednesday 17th May, 2.30-3.15
2. Thursday 25th May, 2.30-3.15
The ‘Step Into Prep’ Program takes place in the Foundation classrooms.
Your children will be seeing different areas of the school during their activities but please note that drop off and pick up will be from our Junior school building which houses our Foundation classroom. Parents are welcome to stay and have a chat to other kinder parents or return to pick up their child at the conclusion of the day’s program.
To allow us to best organise these sessions, please book a place for your child by calling our office on 9842 3373. This program was incredibly popular last year so please book early to avoid disappointment.
